The Ibizan hound

History
It's believed this ancient sighthound originated in Egypt around 3400BC and was carried to the Spanish island of Ibiza by sea-faring Phoenicians. They were bred to hunt rabbit and return them in a soft mouth to the hunter. The Ibizan possesses great jumping ability while hunting through the tall grass and large rocks of Spain. It's amusing to see a pack buried in the grass searching for their quarry with the traditional white tipped tail happily wagging in the air signaling to the hunter where they are.
To this day, the Ibizan is still used for hunting in Spain.
